The children were asked to look at the towers of jumbo Lego and make a fact family to match them.  The clever children spotted connections between the arrays for 3×8 and 6×4.

They had all been wondering why the egg boxes and peg boards were on the tables. They were given a fact family and they had to make an array of pegs to match it. They were asked what shape the array would be. They discovered that they arrays would be in a rectangular shape unless the number was multiplied by itself. This led to a discussion about square numbers!

It’s all CLICking into place!

The children are using a numberline to subtract.  They are really enjoying coin multiplication.

In maths we have been ordering our numbers to 30 on a beanstalk. By Christmas, we hope to be able to say our numbers in order up to 100 🙂 We hope that’s enough to reach the giant!
